Hector Aristizábal
NIGHTWIND

In 1982, Hector Aristizábal and his brother Juan Fernando were abducted from their home in war-torn Colombia. They were taken captive by soldiers, graduates of the notorious School of the Americas, and for a week they endured psychological and physical forms of torture. Several years later, Hector managed to escape to the United States only to return to Colombia to claim the broken body of his brother, who had once again been kidnapped, tortured, and this time murdered by the Colombian paramilitary. Nightwind is a one-man performance, a channeling of ‘terroristic’ energy into constructive action. Hector retells his story in this 30-minute piece, using only his lived experience and a few pieces of black cloth. After the performance Hector leads the audience in a dynamic meditation to provide catharsis to the different emotions awakened by the theatre piece.
